The Longline Bra: Origin, Construction And Contemporary Use
March 16th, 2012 by admin
The longline bra differs from the fashion bra in that it is worn primarily to support the breasts. The Longline garment is a direct descendant of the corset. However, it is constructed from contemporary material, such as elastane. This is much more comfortable for the wearer than the old-fashioned laced garment.
The cups of the Longline Bra normally feature three-section construction. The descending bodice is boned with silicon bands at the sides, providing extra support for the wearer. This bodice can feature front or back fastening, and normally has the same support straps as the fashion bra.
Most major corsetry houses sell at least one model of Longline Bra. The garments are made from traditional materials like satin, lace and cotton, and are often trimmed with piping, frills and bows. The garment provides the wearer with comfort, ease of movement, and an attractive silhouette over which to confidently wear her outer clothing.
